Personality: Spitfire has only recently developed her powers and is enjoying her new life as both a super hero and a celebrity. Before her powers developed, Carrie had the vague ambition of being a reporter, but was doing her best to put off making any kind of important decision until the last possible moment. She now feels that her life has a purpose and direction - that she has been given the powers for a reason - to help people. She has so far rejected Pilgrim's attempts to recruit her in his war on Apocalypse.
Personal Interests: Hanging out with her friends, shopping, watching old films and doing as little work as it is possible to get away with.
History: Little has been revealed of the life of Carrie Conway before she enrolled in a course in English Literature at Braddock University in London. She discovered her powers during an attack on London by the Shrine, and met the enigmatic Pilgrim who told her that her powers stem from the Knights of Adrastraea.
After several high profile fights with super-powered criminals, she was enjoying great popularity, and under the guidance of the millionaire businessman Edgar Lackham, made a substantial amount of money from personal appearances and merchandise. Devoting more time to this, Carrie left university. However, Lackham was revealed to be a member of the British branch of the Hellfire Club, and used his knowledge of Spitfire to blackmail her into working for them. Spitfire unwillingly carried out several missions for the Hellfire Club, and on one occasion worked with the Hellfire Club’s team, the Hellions. During this mission she earned the enmity of the Hellions team leader Teryn, who told the Inner Circle that Spitfire had betrayed them. The Hellfire Club took its revenge by attacking her friends and family, injuring them and putting Gary McGuiness into a coma. Spitfire was rescued from the attack by Pilgrim and taken to the Hidden City of the Knights of Adrastraea, where the Elder revealed what had happened to the Knights in their war on Apocalypse and again tried to persuade her to join them. Carrie returned to England and defeated the Hellfire Club, destroying their London Mansion. Spitfire intended to return to the Hidden City to learn more about her abilities, but was prevented from doing so by a series of adventures, notably dealing with a number of escaped convicts from the Stanton Correctional Facility for Superhuman Criminals.
During the demonic invasion of Earth led by the Horde, Carrie fought Maaxa, but was defeated and killed. She was resurrected by the ghost of Reece Kahn – the Hellion Conjur, who had been waiting for an opportunity to return to the earthly plane, and knew that his magic, in conjunction with Spitfire’s own regenerative abilities would enable him to achieve this. Conjur, controlling Spitfire’s body, journeyed to New York where he met up with his former team-mates. The Hellion finally restored Carrie’s spirit to her body, and, guilt stricken over using her, returned to England and saved the lives of her friends from the invading demons, and restoring the comatose Gary to health.
Spitfire then joined the Hellions in the final attack on the Horde’s headquarters at Wundagore, but it remains to be seen how the traumatic experiences will affect her.
